Since my last post on NaNoWriMo, things went relatively smoothly. With a number of scenes still to play with in my outline, I picked out the ones I wanted to write most and went with them for the final stretch.
This morning, after my usual few hundred words before work, I still had around 2800 words to go. I expected I’d save a lot for Saturday.
But during the day, I thought, “Nah. I’m finishing tonight.”
So in the time before Agents of SHIELD came on, I got up to 48,812 words. And when that was over, I jumped to my final scene for the last burst. I really didn’t want to reach this point with any words other than “The End” – and that’s what I did.
And that’s it for another year. It was certainly a tough one – I didn’t manage to write a totally cohesive story in the end, though it was more so than some of my earlier efforts, and I probably would have fallen apart if not for all the planning I did before hand. (Yep, the Snowflake Method is the way to go.) Like I already said, I don’t expect to do much more with this particular novel. But now I have a whole weekend to figure out what to write about next.
